V2A or V4A? The difference in a minute
Both are rust-free – the difference is molybdenum: V4A also withstands chlorides and acids, while V2A is the more affordable standard for everything else.

“V2A” and “V4A” are common trade names – in the calculator you select the material by its unambiguous material number. That matters when a drawing or specification prescribes a specific grade: 1.4301 stands for the V2A standard, 1.4404 and 1.4571 for the two V4A grades. The fibre laser cuts all three materials with a clean, narrow kerf – including fine contours, cut-outs and tight radii, straight from your CAD file.
1.4301 – the rust-free standard
V2A 1.4301 is the most widely used stainless steel of all: a chromium-nickel steel that stays permanently rust-free indoors and in normal outdoor environments – with no coating. Railings, furniture, panels, signs: if you need “just stainless steel”, this is the right choice.
1.4404 – V4A for welded constructions
The low-carbon V4A grade with molybdenum: resistant to chlorides and acids, and the usual choice for welded parts in food technology, chemicals and coastal areas – anywhere V2A reaches its limits.
1.4571 – V4A with titanium stabilisation
The classic plant-engineering grade: like 1.4404, resistant to acid and chlorine, and additionally stabilised with titanium. Many specifications in chemical and equipment engineering expressly prescribe 1.4571 – simply selectable directly in the calculator.

Frequently asked questions about stainless steel laser cutting
V2A or V4A – which stainless steel is right?
V2A (1.4301) is the standard stainless steel for interiors and normal outdoor environments – rust-free, easy to work with and, at a material basis of €3.50/kg, significantly more affordable. V4A (1.4404 or 1.4571) additionally contains molybdenum, which makes it resistant to chlorides and acids – a must in swimming pool, coastal, food and chemical environments. Rule of thumb: if salt, chlorine or acid comes into play, choose V4A – otherwise V2A is enough.
What thicknesses can I have laser cut in stainless steel?

What are heat tint marks – and how do I get rid of them?
Laser cutting heat produces bluish-yellow discolouration along the cut edge, known as heat tint marks. For visible parts they can be removed right at the time of ordering: the add-on options grinding and tumbling in the calculator give clean, even surfaces and edges – with no rework of your own.
What's the difference between 1.4404 and 1.4571?
Both are V4A grades with molybdenum and very similar corrosion resistance. 1.4404 is the low-carbon variant and the usual choice for welded constructions. 1.4571 is titanium-stabilised – the classic grade in plant engineering and chemical environments when specifications expressly call for it. Both are available in the calculator from 0.5 to 15 mm.
Is stainless steel magnetic?
Grades 1.4301, 1.4404 and 1.4571 are austenitic stainless steels and are practically non-magnetic as supplied. Cold forming – for example when bending or at cut edges – can cause slight magnetisability; that's normal, not a quality defect, and doesn't change the corrosion resistance.
